Good animating skills yet the story is lacking

First off, I just want to let you know that I don't know what your reasons for making the Tetris'd movies are and I won't try to assume anything at all. With that aside, this is my review.

Foremost, your ability to animate is definitely the highlight of your movies and is surely above the more average submissions that are deposited into Newgrounds. However, I just can't seem to really understand the story you are portraying in this movie.

Why do the "Tetris Gods" take over Earth and use its inhabitants to survive in a crazy life-sized game of Tetris? I think it's perfectly fine to make movies where people just fight big monsters, destroy grand robots, or spar against formidable humans, but now that you've decided to provide a beginning to the Tetris'd universe, you should elaborate even more on what you have provided. Perhaps you could explain the intention for keeping the humans and placing them in a giant Tetris game, why Tetris came to Earth in the first place, or even what happens after Tetris'd 3.

I could say that I understand how much work it takes to put into animating these films, but I have no clue due to my complete lack of experience. Nevertheless, you do have somewhat of an obligation to create another installment of Tetris'd because you have decided to create a story. You are only hurting your fans when you leave your story wide open without a couple of possible endings.

Regardless, Tetris'd Rising is a nice film, but only if you try to ignore the story because of how many holes it produces.

Excellent

Wow, what an amazing piece! This really has the feeling of an extremely high production value. The music not only fit, but it amplified everything that was shown, said, understood. The voice acting was quite good and had a great cadence. The pacing of the story was significant as well and made me feel like there was much more to this movie despite the length. Bottom line, I'm anticipating a follow up.

Nice Game

Really fun game, but how did you get that bending/vortex effect on the visuals when the mouse was clicked down?

Wonderful

This game is wonderful. I have never been able to play a game so accessible before. Its sheer simplicity makes it expressive its ability to be enjoyable yet difficult when need be and while playing the campaign, the enemies in each round make sense. The further you get, there are still difficult enemies, but you can see they their forces are dwindling, so they send in some of the weaker units they have left. Although people may feel that the victory cinematic may not be fulfilling, there is still so much more to do, like Accuracy, Endurance, and Fortitude Challenges, along with cheats and a high score list, so you are always pressured to do your best.

All in all, I rate this a 5 and with a review boasting 10 stars. Good for you, Bryce.

Doesn't cut it.

Original and stylish, this can definitely be an addicting game. The only problem is the pay to play ideology which saps all your enjoyment when you realize that after only three levels, you are forced to make a purchase on a game you have no intention on buying.

I think it's an honest way to make a living, creating games and selling them for profit, but Newgrounds is a sharing community, and unless you have more to share, this isn't the place to display your products.

Since I do think this is a good game, I will not give it a ZERO, but having to pay for the rest is too much for this website. Maybe if you allowed all/half the levels, you will probably receive more decent reviews.

Cool Ending

I thought the ending wrapped it up nicely. The fast paced and the lo-fi feel made it really interesting to me. I just love it when you get really caught up in a song and you just have to finish it! That happened to me a couple hours ago for the first time.

Dumami responds:

Thanks =] That's what I was going for XD

Very Cool

Reminded me of some "Tubular Bells" material by Mike Oldfield. I won't tell you how to improve anything, because I don't have the experience for that, but this sounds pretty nice. I think you made a good decision by not making it a techno song.
